As always Pixalo is constantly looking to improve the site and make your time here as welcoming and productive as possible. We realise that the design and colours of the site may not be to everyone’s liking but have previously been restrained by certain software limitations.

Over the last few weeks we have been re-visiting this area in depth and are now in a position to bring online some new colour styles that can be applied on a member by member basis to the forums, gallery and equipment review sections of the site. As it was difficult to test these themes fully in our development area, we will be tweaking the final appearances on the live site over the next few days.

These new themes will be staying and the choice on which you want to use is totally up to each member here. You have the choice of our default grey theme (which we all know and love ), a blue theme (slightly modified from the one we have a vote on a while back) and a new dark red theme too. All of the themes have certain similarities and because of the way the site is coded some of their sections cannot be altered beyond how they will appear. If there are issues in a certain theme that you would like changing, providing it can be done we will try to address this for you. Please give all feedback in this thread so it can be tracked and addressed.

The theme switching option should be available at the bottom of the forums later today and you will also be able to set your own default choice through your user control panels.

Finally, we have not stopped here, you will have a choice of three themes by the end of the day but we plan on introducing at least one more (possibly even two) in the next week or so. You may see a green theme in the near future but the one we are working on now will be a very dark, possibly black theme with minimal colours and should suit our mono addicts.

The black theme is nearly finished now. I just need to code in some of our extras and make sure I have not missed any buttons or images (all these are totally new) and it should then be ready. I will try to get it completed tonight but if not it will definately be finished and available tomorrow.

The grey scale in the members gallery shows the blacks better using black than it does using the blue........if that makes sense

Good point. For now I have changed the colour of the Crew's names to green so that they show up reasonibly well on all the themes.

If you are viewing using the black theme the upload option should show in red

it does but as they are not in bold they are still harder to see. however its not a big deal i still love the black!

Is there a reason why the greyscale should appear to look differently in the members gallery?

When I use the blue version the last three black boxes almost merge but using the black version the boxes are clearly distinguishable

There is no difference in the grey scale image on any of the themes. In fact they all call exactly the same image and its a good demonstration of how the surrounding colours can influence how you perceive an image.

Thats why initially we created the DG theme to give a neutral background from which to view all the photos.

when i go to the members gallery, it doesn't fit to my browser window, it is now too wide, it used to be alright, but i need to scroll across to view it all.

I have changed to the new black theme, using Firefox 2.0.0.1, Mac OS X, 19" monitor at 1280x1024.

The forum section fits fine!
