Advice Please

Hello

I have just just joined after finding the site.

I am looking for some advice and assistance in helping choice a DSLR. Two of my passions are mountains and photograhy. In recent years i have been using a compact Fuji digital camera which is very hany and takes reasonable quality pictures prior to going digital I used a Canon AE1 which i have used for years.

As I will use this a lot while in the mountains of the Uk and overseas i want something that is small and light but a with choice of lenses. I have been looking at the Olympus E410 or E420 and would appreciate comments on these or alternatives.

Thanks
David

re: Advice Please

Don't know the Olympus cameras but I'm sure they'll do the job admirably. I guess the one area it may be worth considering is one of weather sealing - but I went a similar route to you Fuji -> dSLR (Sigma SD10) and found I got excellent results from my wanderings around the Brecon Beacons/Mid Wales/Peak District in rain, wind and snow. Sigma even ended up in a snowdrift (with me attached) and was fine - it's water that's the danger, not snow (but I was very careful getting the snow off before it melted!)

Welcome to Pixalo David

If you are looking for small a light camera, check out the Panasonic/Olympus four thirds models.

This system is supported by several manufacturers and the bodies, lenses and other hardware is inter-compatible.

More info here.

Re: Advice Please

Hi David, I use only olympus- For lightness and super quality why not have a look at the e500- The model is a couple of years old now but all lenses etc are interchangeable. I still use this in my studio and can easily enlarge to 2x3 ft. I can email you with my website details if you wish to see my samples ?
