Any compacts or bridge Cameras able to shoot Infra Red (IR) ?

I know the Fuji S3 pro UVIR has the ability to shoot Infra Red (IR), but was wondering if any compact or bridge cameras have the same function ? I'm sure I've seen an advert for one somewhere, but for the life of me I cannot remeber the model

I'm also considering the DSLR conversion route Anyone converted their DSLR to Infra Red ? but must admit it's a bit risque

If you're prepared to look at second hand models the Minolta Dimage 7 (not the 7i) was excellent. The 7i wasn't too bad. You can pick them up on ebay pretty cheaply and they're a very competent camera for normal stuff as well. Only 49mm filter as well I seem to remember so won't break the bank for a R72.

If you're handy with delicate things you can use the instructions here to convert a Canon Powershot G3 (around £100 second hand) to shoot IR.

Other than my 20D, I also shot IR using canon poweshot A700. just buy the lens adapater, HOYA r72 filter of 58mm and just shoot. Using tripod is a must. I prefer using AV for landscape. then processed in the channel mixer. do the channel swap after you get the photos 'auto level'

a Canon 300D cost 200 euro now on ebay, maybe it is a good solution to remove the filter for IR photography

Re: Any compacts or bridge Cameras able to shoot Infra Red (IR) ?

No ...... the IR filter seems hit & miss & quite expensive for 77mm lens. The only way I would do it , is with a dedicated IR camera. Seeing as I concentrate on Mono, it would seem a sensible addition to the camera gear ....it's just sussing a cost effective way of doing it

Re: Any compacts or bridge Cameras able to shoot Infra Red (IR) ?

i bought a Hoya R72 77mm half price on ebay

but I think also that a dedicated camera will be great, if Canon could have the good idea for the next 1Ds to add this option, a button to remove the filter on sensor ....
