which camera

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a while, sold my dslr thinking that I would be satified with a compact, bad idea and now I have a bit of spare cash ( and I mean a bit ) I am trying to find a cheap dslr again. seen a couple on ebay etc. canon 300d and a pentax k100d super, can anyone give any recommendations at all? money still pretty tight so need something cheap just to start me off again. thanks, jacqui

Re: which camera

Hi Jaqui,
Both the cameras you mention are oldies but goodies the pixel count may be low by todays standards but it's more than some people were making a lot of money with a few years ago. Just my 2p worth but if possible I'd go with either Canon or Nikon. Not because they are necessarily any better than any other brands but that there are far more used models, lenses and accessories floating around and they have a huge range. They are also well supported by independent manufacturers.
This looks a good deal
But this looks a great deal if you could get it for your budget

To save money I'd really try and get as much as possible when you buy second hand. A kit lens is a must; other nice things to get thrown in are spare batteries, memory cards and cases, a second lens would make it a great deal as these things can really add up when you need to buy them.

Re: which camera

Hi, thanks for your reply, still looking, I have been offered a canon 300d in good condition with battery grip, kit lens etc, for 180. and also a pentax k100d super for 169. has anyone had any experience of cash generators? not bought anything off of them before and don't know much about them. urgently need some advice / experience from anyone. thanks.

Re: which camera

No idea if Cash Generators are good to deal with or not.

Of the two cameras you mention, I'd go for the Canon.

Re: which camera

Thanks for your replies, I have managed to buy a camera now, a canon 350d, reviews on it looked pretty good and it is excellent condition with 6 months warranty so I went for it. feeling quite chuffed, however I bought body only so now need a lens. don't really understand canon lenses very well, used to have a pentax. not sure what will work on the 350d. I'm sure I will work it out though

Hi, just thought bring you up to date. I couldn't get on with the canon so returned it, I have now managed to get an olympus e-520 in immaculate condition 3 months warranty, I tried it in the shop first and loved it as soon as I picked it up, it just felt right in my hands. so feeling very happy

Thats a nice camera. I would still have my E300 but got money chucked at me for a birthday so got another camera and sold my E300 (have offered to buy it back recently as its never been used since sold ) You can get an adapter for OM lenses which while manual give nice results and are a lot of fun to use.
Enjoy!

Re: which camera

As you are looking something cost effective so between two of cameras you have mentioned here, I would like to suggest canon 300d as well.
