Have been looking at the Nikon 200D, D2x, and Canon 5D --- need help.

My husband is a wedding officiant and I will be helping him with photography. These are all smaller venues, beautiful local settings --- outside, inside, scenic mountains, bed and breakfast, smaller churches. On the other end of the spectrum our son is involved in high school sports (we take video frequently), and we'd love to take some great shots (varsity baseball, football AND basketball player). Any assistance is appreciated

This might help What camera for £1200? Canon EOS 30D? Any other?

Even though I have a Nikon D200 myself, I think if I was shooting predominately weddings I would seriously consider the Canon, as in my eyes it reproduces the skin tones of people better than Nikon. That said I held both the 5D & D200, & preferred the build quality & handling of the D200.

As for ther D2x, we are talking a huge jump in money ....for the price of one of these you could have a couple of D200's with money to spare.

After some consideration...and great conversations with a local photo shop...I purchased a Canon 400D (body), 17-85 and 50 mm macro lens(es). I'm a first time buyer of this caliber and I really appreciated the advice here and the local shop really helped also. We compared several great cameras, Nikon and Canon --- and I believe I made at least an informed decision. Thanks --- and I look forward to reading more here!

Thanks Dave. Just learning some of the tricks of the camera itself. Delighted to have it, and hope to use it well. After talking with some photo pros --- I really decided that this system would be the best for me as a first time owner. Someday...a greater, bigger, advanceder unit........! Nah. Took it to the Smith Center last night in Chapel Hill for the Tarheels game and had a freaking blast. Going to my son's game tomorrow night with it, and two weddings this weekend. Working out!!!!
