Canon 400D vs 350D vs 20D vs 30D
From the reading I have done it appears the Canon 400D is not much more than a Canon EOS350D with a 10mp sensor in it, a built in sensor cleaning system & now includes the 9 point AF as in the Canon 20D/30D and a 2.5 inch screen.
Do you think the Canon 400D will steal many sales from the Canon 30D based on above, or encourage potential 350D owners to pay the extra  Compare Prices for Canon 400D / Rebel XTi in USA & in UK Compare Prices for Canon 30D in USA & in UK Compare Prices for Canon 40D in USA & in UK |

It all depends. 20D and 30D users will know what quality they have got and are not likely to "downgrade" and 20D owners might not upgrade to the 30D - although I did
 350D owners looking to upgrade should do their sums and realise the 400D isn't much of an upgrade.IMO - to sum up 1 350D owners will upgade to 30D or maybe used 20D 2 400D owners will be new dslr purchasers 3 20D owners might upgrade to 30D but might wait for a "40D" 4 30D owners have got the best bang for buck already so don't need to do anything  5 400D and 30D both have their own niche and I don't think one will lose out to the other Looking back over that it looks like an O level algebra exam

Canon might spring some more suprises at Photokina, there are some rumblings on the new DIGIC III processor and a 3D or was it D3?

I think your right Chris, the big rumour seems to be the 1 series cameras getting a big update with the new DIGIC III processor (as you mentioned) and with the 1Ds rumoured to be getting a 24Mpix sensor
Talk of the 3D has been about for at least 18 months now, I wish they'd hurry up and make it just to stop all the speculation ...One more rumour (yes that word again) that seems to be getting bigger and bigger over the last few days has been the rush out of the new 40D due to Nikon's recent moves, I personally think it'll be Feb '07 before this see's the light, but you never know
