hi, i am looking to buy a new camera and have narrowed it down to the 400d and 450d, do you think the extra price is worth it?

regardless of which camera i buy, i will need a lens but have not a clue what one to buy!
it's a large world and as a newbee im a bit confused.
i have a budget of about £400 for camera + lens and can get the camera for £320 leaving me with about £80 for a lens. Any tips? should i get it with the kit lens? i will be using it for sportss photography so need a large zoom range

I have the 400d and very happy with it. for 80notes, you can get your self the tamron 50mm-200mm zoom lens which in a review in a photography mag i have, won 'the best budget zoom lens'. u would also have to consider a tripod or monopod to highly reduce camera shake.

have to say i have the 400D as well and its a great camera although it does have its limitations, not sure what the 450 has apart from live view that the 400 doesnt but you have to be aware that any zoom lens u get for £80 is going to have its limitations in image quality.

Just sold my 400d but it was a great camera and for £400 you could probably get a good second hand one on ebay with a fairly average zoom lens. Is the 450 out yet?, if not and you can't wait then you wont go far wrong getting the 400d.

A good cheap lens try the Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DG
or save up and get the Canon EF 28-300mm f3.5-5.6 L series IS USM
