Canon 40D - Price £719.99

Just to let you know in case anyone else is interested: the Canon 40D is being sold by Onestop digital, a company many of us on here have used many times without any problems, for just £719.99.

There are three reasons why I buy from them: They are excellent prices, they guarantee to reimburse any import duty and they include postage in the price so what you see is the price you pay.

They have them IN STOCK because they are in Asia where the 40D was released on 20th August and they come with an international warranty.

As you might have guessed, my order has already gone in! I'll let you know when it arrives.

I'll echo that but I'm afraid that I won't be buying from Asia. I certainly use the Asian etailers but for a camera I'll buy from somewhere I can physically take it back to if there is a fault. I don't want any hassle over getting my money back and you can't throttle the salesman when he's in Hong Kong

I understand where you're coming from StephenO and admit it is a small risk but at a saving of nearly £200, it is a risk I am prepared to take. I can certainly understand why you might not though.

According the the FedEx tracking number they gave me, I am amazed to say it is supposed to be arriving tomorrow (Monday) which would be phenomenal. I only ordered it on Thursday evening. I have frequently known packages to take longer than that when ordered from within the UK!

You can be sure I'll get a detailed review done by the end of the work as soon as I have had a chance to try it out and see how much difference the upgrades have made.

What you doing with the 20D then Rob ....backup body , or selling on whilst prices are still good ?

Well, what can i say: ordered on Thursday evening, received at 11.15 this morning (Monday) which is pretty darned good as it has come from Hong Kong. I got a full tracking number and was able to follow exactly where it was at any time using the FedEx website!

First impressions are overwhelmingly positive, but obviously I shalln't do a full review until the weekend as I need to have a proper play with it. Suffice to say it is amazingly quiet, incredibly quick, the LCD is beautiful and in daylight it shoots at an increible fps rate! Proper review will include pics and things.

Dave, I am keeping the 20D as with the prices they go for, it is worth more to me than it is to anyone else. Darned if I am going to give a superb camera away for a couple of hundred quid. I will keep it as a back up for my pro work, something I feel every pro should have anyway and have wanted to be in a position to do for a long time.

I also have heard that £50 cashback may be on offer at sometime.

Camera outlets Aj Purdy & also Jacobs are selling at present for the Body £749. Less the Canon cashback of £50 = £699. not bad. I think Purdy is free postage.

If you purchase the Kit which includes the 17-85 IS Zoom Lens For £879 you get the lens for £180 . The prices here are with the Canon cash back of £70'

If you don't want the 17-85 IS lens you could certainly sell it for much more than £180 ,they currently sell boxed for between £359 -£450.
