Question Canon Powershot S5 IS

Just wondering if anyone has one of these and if so, what are the pros and cons of it. I've read heaps of reviews online, but would like to hear first hand experience from real people who aren't trying to sell me something. I am an amateur, mainly wanting to take photos of my kids.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Canon Powershot S5 IS

Hi BLT, The camera you are looking at is extremely good in its price range. The picture quality is excellent as it uses the Digic lll processor and has an extremely good optical zoom with a decent lens for a compact camera. 12x zoom is going to get you in very close (ignore the digital zoom and NEVER use it!) and with a combination of image stabilisation, ISO 1600 and decent noise reduction you can get shots in lower light than would normally be feasible.

The camera feels good in the hand, the buttons and things fall naturally so it is very functional.

All in all I do not think you will be at all disappointed with this choice in this price range.

Let us know what you decide to do and maybe we'll see some of your results in the future.

Cheers,
Rob
