Entry levels DSLR's are now cheaper than quite a few of the compact / bridge cameras.

On the other hand, and I may just be being snobby or opinionated, I find it quite irritating when I see people with good or even starter dSLRs who clearly don't know the first thing about using them, and probably don't want to learn, [edit: which they buy cos they think a bigger piece of plastic will improve their pictures], having these cameras when a less fortunate but fantastic photographer is stuck with a bridge camera...

This happens in all things in life. Cars, computers, video cameras, 'HiFi', musical instruments....etc. We all know that you can't buy success, it comes out in the results.

I agree, the amount of people who say to me that if only they had my camera and lenses because MY CAMERA takes great photographs.......
