Re: Fuji s5 pro for wedding work

I've read good things about it and even handled it - as well as being very tempted by the increased dynamic resolution offered (but then I like Fuji's colours as well). Don't know anyone who's bought one tho'

Re: Fuji s5 pro for wedding work

I managed to use one when working in a photography shop in France, the owner had one for weddings.
In terms of handling it's exactly the same as the D200 body-wise. That's a good thing Some buttons are different but v. easy to get used to especially if you use Nikon cameras.
The menu is the only poor thing. It's very confusing I mean, there are a lot of options, but the interface is rather backwards, and old seeming, and all the useful features are called odd things, and at the bottom of every list it seems!
I've heard good things about it's images, apart from the fact that it interpolates up to 12mp, rather than just staying at 6mp, and this means that it's not really got the resolution some pro wedding togs would like.

HTH a bit

PS: Plus it uses all Nikon AF-S lenses as I'm sure you know so that's a plus

There are many pro's using Canon at weddings, so maybe you should see what needs to be tweaked here I've seen some of Steve's wedding work with the Canon 20D using fill in flash & the shots were perfect.

Wondering whether the original comment was really relating to 'other cameras' rather than Canon, specifically. Whilst they will all do the job quite satisfactorily the S5 is meant to be able to handle those whites much better as well as the shadow detail.

So, it's not so much a case of you can't get good shots as having the tool to get better shots. In theory!

I never had a problem getting professional quality wedding shots from Canon equipment, in fact we changed from Fuji DSLR's to canon for the improvement in quality it gave us. The key to getting the best quality from any equipment, not just Canon, is to learn how to use it rather than blaming the camera for poor user skill/technique.

Re: Fuji s5 pro for wedding work

The point I was making has absolutely nothing to do with equipment useage (with which I wholeheartedly agree) and everything to do with how the camera works. The fact remains that if the camera is capable of resolving more detail in the shadows and highlights it really doesn't matter how good/bad the photographer may be, that fact will still remain!

That is true however, taffy is not complaining about the resolving detail of shadows and highlights, he is complaining about a Canon specific (across the whole range apparently) flash problem...

With just a sweeping (inaccurate in my opinion) statement and no specifics to detail the "suffering in flash pictures", again I will stand by my earlier comment. It is my opinion that this user is likely to suffer the same issues no matter what brand of equipment he uses.

Re: Fuji s5 pro for wedding work

I realise all Digital slr's have their own charactistics as did different brands of film, but camera reviews say the S5 pro is designed for wedding type work and pay a lot of attention to dress detail but there doesnt seem many out their in practice i was hoping someone was using one of these in this field of work and could give me a Hands on review
Cheers
