Leica D-Lux 3 or Panasonic DMC-LX2?
I am about to buy a new compact camera, and have narowed my choice down to the panny or leica. I looked at the canon S80, but it lacks the wide format.
Noise is meant to be an issue in the panny, which Leica seems to have sorted. Any one used or have any idea about these two cameras? All advise welcomed. Many Thanks |

Re: Leica D-Lux 3 or Panasonic DMC-LX2?
I've not used either of these, vicar, but after a quick cursery google on them both it would appear they are very similar cameras - if not identical. 10mp, Leica 4x lens, OIS, 2.8 LCD. If it was up to me, on those specs, I would go for the Leica if only because they have more history and experience of making cameras.
That said, you seem to have decided on what you want in a camera but do consider it's main usage eg landscapes, portraits, close-up, macro etc. |

Re: Leica D-Lux 3 or Panasonic DMC-LX2?
Thanks for the advise stepheno. As for usage i want a point and shoot , that gives me the flexibility to take portraits, landscapes etc.
It is always difficult trying to squeeze a lot of people/space into a frame, hence my choice. If you have any other suggs re make of camera, advice will be appreciated. If not Leica it is. Many Thanks for the advise |

Re: Leica D-Lux 3 or Panasonic DMC-LX2?
I've just had another looksee and as it's just been released there's no reviews yet but the spec looks excellent. The Leica is a rebadged Panasonic but it certainly looks the business. Anyway - it'll be a great name-dropper at the next wedding when you remark "I've got a Leica"
![]() If you do get one give me a PM and I'll pop into the Equipment Reviews and you could do a review for us Good shooting |

'Oh gosh, you're right again. Yes, you really are clever!' 'No, I said...., oh never mind. At least you got that bit right!'
