Re: Need help

Canon in my view,as I would prefer them very much to Samsung.
All of the G,s have a very good reputation,I had a G2 as my first digital back in 2002. It was super.

Re: Need help

You can't say one is better but you can say one suits you better than the other. For my one and only camera I would buy Canon but as a second or third camera I would consider the Samsung (I have a Finepix). However they appear to be different animals with the Samsung having interchangeable lenses and nearly twice the price.

If anyone wants to buy me the Samsung I'll have one

Re: Need help

Well, I'd guess the Samsung has the potential to produce better images than the Canon, but as mentioned they're really not comparable

I have the G12, having had the G11 for some time (now handed to youngest for her underwater and jungle photos) and get on with it very well as it precisely fits my needs: robust, one-handed usage, RAW and +/- compensation capability - perfect for dog walking!

Re: Need help

Shane, don't bash your head, just take it that it was not meant to be

Could it be that the people who automatically said "Canon, of course" have no idea of the Samsung's features Personally, I wouldn't choose a camera that way, i.e. w/o actually checking out the spec's and reviews.

Had a peek, and it looks like a great little camera! But for literally just a few pounds more, you can get the NX1000 with 20MP (vs Canon G9's 12MP), CMOS sensor (vs G9's CCD), 25x optical zoom (vs G9's 6x), built-in Wi-Fi, max ISO 12800 (vs G9's 1600) ... and more ... I haven't listed a full comparison, because as has already been noted, they are two very different cameras. Only disadvantage I can see is the interchangeable lenses, which could prove costly. But for the money (£265 today on Amazon) it seems like a good investment to me, at least worth checking out
