Hi guys I am looking for a good quality SLR for people new to DSLR photography that can be used in a lot of different situations and hopefully come with a few extras. I have been looking at Sony Alpha DSLR-A200 and CANON EOS Digital REBEL XTi 400D are these good choices? What would you say is the best or if there is something else I should look at all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi just_add - they are all quality be it Sony, Sigma, Olympus, Nikon, Pentax, Canon......there aren't any bad ones. OK...some are better than others in some respects but they all do the job pretty well. More to the point what lens system do you want to get hooked into? Nikon and Canon have the best range available but the others have some good lenses too.

Pentax have just released a new DSLR a K200D .There is a Samsung version very similar( they are the same company now) at a cost reduction of about $200.

The K 200D has a cmos chip. The thing to remember "just_add" is that whatever you purchase it will be out of date within 18 months. But this is only by manufacturers hype. Your camera will still be taking great pictures until it goes faulty for whatever reason.
If you keep waiting long enough you probably will never make a purchase because of the prolific numbers of updated DSLR's

I have the Sony A-100 DSLR, mainly because I had a bunch of Minolta len's with my Minolta slr. I have been very pleased. Had it about a year. I like the stabilizer feature. However a friend of mine who's opinion I respect tried the A-100 and did not like the outcome in dim lighting. He went with the Nikon.

Brian is the SAMSUNG GX-10 the camera you were talking about? And what lenses should i be looking for that can be used for all around shot including sports, landscapes, wide angle shots ect. Are there any lenses in my price range that could do a good fish eye shot? I am really new to all of this.

Hi i just found out a friend of mine is selling a cannon 400d With 2 cannon lenses a 28-90mm and a 90-300mm a polarizing filter and a 4gig memory card Its near new and i know its in good condition. How much should i pay for somthing like this?

Juat_add The Samsung new model is GX-20. It comes bundled with a 18-55mm kit lens.All of the range of Pentax lenses will fit the Samsung and models (Pentax K20D 14.6 million pixel sensor) don't forget the cheaper Pentax K200D 10.2million pixel sensor.

You could have a look at Ebay to see if you can find someing similar and see how much they go for. You would want to look at an actual auction rather than a "buy now" sale however.
