Re: Sony Cybershot DSC-T10 vs. Canon PowerShot A630

The Canon PowerShot A630 : about $250 us dollars
8.0 Megapixels
2.5” vari-angle LCD screen and real-image optical viewfinder
4x optical zoom
DIGIC II, iSAPS, 9-Point AiAF, FlexiZone AF/AE
Digital Tele-Converter and Safety Zoom1
21 shooting modes
up to ISO 800
Conversion Lens Adapter (LA-DC58F)
Wide-Converter 0.7x lens (WC-DC58N)
Tele-Converter 1.75x lens (TC-DC58N)

vs.

Sony Cybershot DSC-T10: about $400 us dollars

7.0 Megapixels
2.5-inch Clear Photo Plus LCD screen
3x Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar® optical zoom lens
Memory Stick Duo™ media card or Memory Stick PRO Duo™
light sensitivity, up to ISO 1000
double anti-blur protection
Super Steady Shot® optical image stabilization

the only real advantage I see on the sony over the canon is the image stabilization, other than that I would get the Canon but if your willing to spend around that ballpark why dont you get a

Nikon D70 kit: about $450 us dollars
Heres a review on the D70

or a

Canon EOS 350D about $500 us dollars
Heres a review on the 350D

I would go for the 350D out of those two its a great camera as you will see in the review.. hope this is helpfull...

Re: Sony Cybershot DSC-T10 vs. Canon PowerShot A630

proudly owned a t10 for almost 2 weeks now
shots were sharp and the movie mode is fantastic
choosed it over canon because the lens doesn't extend out
though it has some limitations in some areas.
but it didn't bother me i just want a P&S camera and the t10
delivers everything i need.

Re: Sony Cybershot DSC-T10 vs. Canon PowerShot A630

Having looked at a few test shots on both, I can now say I would definitely go for the Canon. The pictures were sharper with better colour reproduction than the Sony. The resolution difference doesn't come into it, the processor does and the 610 has the same processor as a Canon 30D so that tells you plenty.

Whilst not recommending you buy a camera on brand alone, I would definitely keep in mind that Canon is an optics company. That's what they do! Be it Cameras, lenses, x-ray machines, photo-copiers or camcorders, optical reproduction of images is what Canon does. Sony are a mass-production company that makes everything from hi-fis to car stereos, camcorders, televisions, radios, headphones, you name it. They do make excellent products and in other areas I am very happy to buy Sony.... I have lots!

But when I buy a camera I buy from a camera company, a specialist with years of experience in this field: Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Pentax, etc. In this case, I would definitely choose the Canon over the Sony.

Cheers,
Rob
