I would suggest two memory cards. You don't want your only one going pear-shaped at the crucial moment
I use three and I'm sure others have more.regards |

Oops sorry Dod - I have bought a 1GB, 2GB and 4GB in the last couple of weeks and confused the pricing a bit; The 1GB was £47 ish, the 2GB was £77 (sorry Gemok missed the vital "2" in your post !) and a 4GB most recently for about £150 ! All from Picstop - although they are listed cheaper in other places but not generally listed as in stock for them ! Didn't mean to mislead ... BTB the service from Picstop was excellent !

The only thing I'd say about that seller is, the postage charge is a pure ripoff, however he's selling over 10,000 units a month with only a couple of hundred negs.
oh yes I have 4 x 512mb cards, that can hold 70odd shots per piece. |

If you can get to the 'Focus on Imaging' show at the NEC. I've just got a San Disk Extreme III 133x 1GB for just 49.99, everyone is doing these at this price, they've also got the new Lexar 133x for the same price.
Not really relevant but I enjoyed the exhibition as it was my first and there were some cracking bargins to be had, also had a wirl with a 30d which was very good, if anyone is in the market for their first digital defo go for this.

I've had one of these since July and it has run without fault with about 8,000 odd shutter clicks. Just bought another one today: http://www.memorynet.co.uk/buy/integ...-x40-2gb.shtml

just to check if you dont mind, but write speeds only matter if you fill the buffer and for transfers right?
only asking as its tempting to save the tenner between the 40x and 133x but im not sure if i should just pay the little extra for triple the speed. |

As far as I know, from reading DP mag, it says go for the fastest you can afford for future reference with faster writes speeds from your camera etc. The write speeds matter all the time don't they, i.e if it can write to the card @ 20mb/sec it will be better than 5-10Mb/sec??? Not to sure though it might be worth one of the seasoned pros answering this one.

Well by the time you come to buy a camera that can utilise 133x speed, 1gb/2gb cards will likely be too small to be of any real use since sensor size and image file size will have increased too. Larger faster cards will have dropped in price by then too. (hopefully)
With that in mind I'd buy the 40x card since that is easily fast enough to cope with the transfer speeds of current cameras and not leave you hanging around waiting. |
