50mm f1.4d

Spotted a 50mm f1.4D lens on Craigslist that had been listed for minutes. In Ann Arbor mi.... I'm on my way back home from picking it up for the princely sum of.....89 dollars!

The quest for primes continues.

Re: 50mm f1.4d

Well done Loyd, great bargain . There's something about primes that just makes you explore your style.

I had the manual version on one of my Nikon F's from way back in the '70s, and sold it with the camera when I chose to stick with 6x6. I soon began to miss it, so bright in the viewfinder.

I believe the only difference with this and the manual is the focussing thread has changed so that it focusses faster with the motor. I had been toying with the 1.4 D but settled for the 1.2 manual - another lens I had been fascinated by since those days.

Re: 50mm f1.4d

I like the theme your using,, the quest for primes. Hope you find it useful. I remember the manual primes I was able to collect by asking in conversations if they had any cameras just setting around. My favorites were a 50mm f.1.7 canon, 28mm yus, and a 150mm Kalimar. Another good find was a 28-135zoom canon, not a prime but I didn't have one. These lenses sit on the shelf that hold my other lenses and get used. Fun.
