LOL I've got one of those. Sharp as hell. When I first got it I drove my friends mad by emailing them huge picture of close ups of the legs and eyes of dead flies, grains of salt, full stops on a printed page etc etc. Great fun. Have done some stunning portraits with it too. Enjoy!

Re: Added a Sigma 105mm Macro to the collection ;)

I have been looking at the canon 100 macro and the 105 sigma. I read about the 105 focus searching and the lens is a little clunky. Would greatly like to know how it works in terms of being comfortible.

Re: Added a Sigma 105mm Macro to the collection ;)

I can only comment from using it in Studio for portraits & I have to admit it is not as fast as my Nikon 17-55mm lens to focus, & does hunt a bit sometimes, but we are talking in low light (modelling lights) & comparing it to a lens at 3x value.

Re: Added a Sigma 105mm Macro to the collection ;)

I have a 50mm compact macro I've used a few times and it is a noisy focus clunker. It shoots good so I will work with it for now and wait maybe for you to see if you like the sharpness I see a lot of. I am beginning to think the information I recieved on the 105 might not be worth dirt. I know a lot of people like it, have fun with yours.

Re: Added a Sigma 105mm Macro to the collection ;)

I have the 105 Sigma as well and for an ocassional Macro shooter like me it's great. Yes very slow to AF but for Macro manual focus is the order of the day so no worries for me. Quality of output is everything I could hope for and I imagine if anything it would be too sharp for portraits IYSWIM.

One quick tip and I may be teaching people to suck eggs but if, like me, you like lens hoods then the standard 77mm lens caps snap straight into the screw in hood which makes matters much quicker when swapping around. Likewise for some reason Sigma are incapable of making a decent Nikon mount rear cap it will only dial on from one position so I always replace them with a Nikon LF-1.
