I don't have an opinion on that lens as I have never used it but after looking at your existing range of lenses I don't quite see how it fits into your line up?

i am looking to get something a little better than the bog standard kit lens Steve. I know the sigma isnt a big L series lens but im hoping it is better than the one i have!

dont know anything about the 20-40 but have heard good things about the sigma 18-50 2.8, about the same price and a more useful range imo.
also there is the sigma 17-70 2.8 - 4.5 which i have i can confirm its a very good lens just a shame its not a constant 2.8 its also around the same price

There is also a Tamron 17-40 F2.8 that gets great reviews and would make a good replacement for the kit lens. that might be worth a gander?
