Any review sites for Sigma and Tamron

Hi

I am thinking of buying a zoom in the region of 70-200 f2.8
I have had a look at the canon range and found an excellent review site below

Canon Digital Camera & Lens Reviews

I am wondering if there is a site offering in depth reviews of Sigma and Tamron.
of lenses of a similar spec. Also can anyone advise me if the Sigma image stabilisation
is comparable to the Canon.

I am looking for f2.8 because I may need to shoot in Indoor environments

Please can you share your experiences

Always worth searching on here first. This might help you :- Example shot taken with Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM

Also have a look at the Equipment review section for Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8

Re: Any review sites for Sigma and Tamron

Well, there are some reviews on Pixalo and I'm sure now you've asked the question other members will respond with any relevant experience (I have a canon 70-200mm L f2.8 IS and it's the bee's articulatio genu)

I tend to look at this site when I'm after some reviews, pinch of salt sometimes required, a few of these guys have very high expectations and do all sorts of funky tests to prove that one lens has .001% more Chromatic Abberation than another and then slag it off for being useless, despite the fact no one could ever tell in real life use. However most of them are real people who actually use their kit to take photos of things rather than just testing them all day.

I've heard good things about the Sigma EX 70-200 f2.8 but have never handled or used one.

cheers

Dan

Re: Any review sites for Sigma and Tamron

For what little it's worth, I have a Tamron 70-300 and am very happy with it.

I've taken some excellent pictures with it. It feels nice in my hand, comes with a lens hood (instead of beig forced to pay 15 bucks or more for a piece of plastic) and the macro mode works well.

Minuses: Sometimes it won't easily switch out of macro mode once I enter it, and the barrel needs a little more torque than I would like...
