Anyone got a Gitzo tripod?

So, anyone got a Gitzo tripod? Particulaly a carbon fibre one? I see you can get the G2227 CF model from HK for £185 plus del, which looks like a great deal to me.

I was thinking of pairing it with a Manfrotto 486RC2 Compact Ball Head
with RC2 quick release for around £50.

Any comments anyone?

Thanks.

Just worked out the shipping cost on the tripod - £75! Not such a great deal then...

Thanks for the reply.

I know its still cheaper, but its starting to get ouside my budget. My alternative is the Velbon CF range, which is at Warehouse Express at very good prices at the mo.

Hmmm. I'll have to think about this one.

I've just bought the 488RC2 ball head with quick release plate and I'd definitely recommend it.

I now use a Gitzo 1548, it's like the rock of Gibraltar... and none of those nasty noisy snappy leg locks.

I have a G1227 (I think? lol)...got it in HK for about £180...retails for well over £300 here!

Great bit of kit, that's all I can say - no complaints at all!
