hey, im wondering does anyone on the forum own the Canon Powershot A710 IS Digital Camera? 7.1 Megapixels, 2.5'' LCD Screen, 6x Optical Zoom, Optical Image Stabiliser

ive been ordered to get a handy camera for the sister for christmas and it seems to be better spec than the smallish compact camera. were wanting something higher spec than basic point and shoot, something that she could work at her photography on before buying a big camera!
im going to jessops to see if i can check it out or even test it out but thought id see if anyone on here could give me an owners opinion on it!

FWIW, Which best buys (of those tested)
1 - Samsung Digimax i6 PMP 66% £160. - supplied software does not work with Macs - wide angle not very wide - can be used as a MP3/video player.
2 - Canon Digital Ixus 65 65% £250. - 'burst' mode 2fps! - big LCD -
3 - Canon Digital Ixus Wireless 65% £175. VF - wireless needs XP SP2 or Mac S X v10.4 - you can take photos remotely with your computer!
4 - Sony Cybershot DSC-T9 65% £235 - has IS
5 - Sony Cybershot DSC-W50 62% £150 VF - can change power of flash and go to 1000 ISO!

F= LCD + viewfinder. A must, for me. Of these, I think the £160 Sony looks good, but the specs of some of the other Canons not tested look good.

i was in to see the Canon Powershot A710 IS today....seems pretty ideal for what im looking for. it has large LCD and viewfinder, proper IS rather than ''anti-shake'' lol, 80 to 800 ISO, P Tv Av M and all the programmed modes and managed to get it down to £200

jessops hadnt much of a range in stock for what i was looking for so wil just have to do web research!
