Thumbs up Best lense for Landscape

Hi
I have a 450d with the standard 18-55 lense. I travel a lot and enjoy landscape photography.
I would like some advise on what is the best lense for landscape scenery. Is it possible to get a good lense for under £300.

Thanks

Re: Best lense for Landscape

I tend to use a Sigma 10-20mm (if I'm up close to, say, a waterfall) and 150-500mm (for distant urban/industrial/mountain) for landscapes but neither can be had for new at that price.

But then I've also used a Zenitar 16mm Fisheye M42 with M42 adapter very successfully - and that cost me £50

Re: Best lense for Landscape

You can get a nice Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4.5 DC Macro Lens for less than £250, which is a really nice walk about lens, with 1 to 2 macro as well, but your 18-55mm should be fine.

Stick with what you've got. If you can't get images that satisfy you with the kit you've got, it's doubtful you'll be any happier after spending more money.

On the other hand, if spending money makes you happy...

Re: Best lense for Landscape

John ,check this one out .I have not used this focal length zoom but other Tokina lens I have used are excellent. It is just outside your price range though by £19
The link is below. from Camerabox

Tokina 12-24mm f4 AT-X AF PRO DX II (Nikon Fit).

Although Nikon fit, they do list the Canon version for the same price, quoted as arriving 8th January 2010

Brian
Worth mentioning, that the same Tokina is £485.99 from Warehouse express. Just goes to show, it pays to shop around.

Thanks again

Re: Best lense for Landscape

Make sure you do a Google check on Camerabox first. Some, on a few other forums, feel their cards are being scammed there, and the company are rubbish.

I am not talking from any personal experience, but looked them up when I was going to buy from them.
