Birthday Present to myself - Nikon 17-55 + Sigma 70-200 Lenses :)

Well someone has to treat ones self these days at Birthday time

Anyway a big thankyou to P-E for delivering my new lenses in such a well wrapped box. All in excellent condition

So what I did I buy. The Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 & then the real killer ....the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 . Only had a bit of time to play with the lenses, & both are beautiful pieces of kit...... & how quiet & smooth is that AF on the Nikon. Also love the Bokeh on that Sigma at 200mm fully open.

WIll post back if I ever get chance to play with them futher

In the meantime I will be keeping a close on the Review section to see what others have thought of these lenses here :-

Nikon AF-S 17-55mm DX f/2.8 G Lens Review
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM Lens review

Cheers FTMFTM If you get chance chuck a review up for the lens, as it'll help others like me in the future.

Must admit it feels a nice bit of kit. Just need to find some time to use it now

I would love a 17-55 - its supposed to be awesome! Shame about the price though!

Enjoy it, and let us know what you think.

Will do. Will be interesting to see how people rate it in the Equipment review section. Once I feel I've had enough use fo the lens, I'll be posting my thoughts there.

Forgot to mention P-E actually reckoned the Sigma 70-200 was sharper than 17-55......will have to check that out.

Remember Dave we agreed that you weren't to show any images using the 17-55

Glad you like them and I am looking forward to seeing some pictures from both of those lenses

The 17-55 never came off my D2Hs until now.

Come on P-E ....stop teasing us & give your honest opinion of your lenses on the Equipment reviews . I like others have lusted for lenses such as this for months if not years. It's people like yourself with the real hands on experience that can guide us one way or the other. If you don't . I'll only post 17-55 shots for next month

Anyway you owe me , for getting me in debt

Re: Birthday Present to myself - Nikon 17-55 + Sigma 70-200 Lenses :)

I will post a few basic reviews of my hands on experience where I can.

"Anyway you owe me , for getting me in debt".......who me

You got a quality piece of glass there......both the Sigma 70-200 and Nikon 17-55.

Yes I felt the 70-200 was sharper than the 17-55 but everything about the 17-55 is just pure class.

I will look forward as to what you think when you find the time.

Is the missis still talking to you after the spending spree

Re: Birthday Present to myself - Nikon 17-55 + Sigma 70-200 Lenses :)

Lets put it this way :-

Wife :-how much ?
Dave :- you don't want to know...so she left it.

Then I got the 18-200 through the post & I stupidly said
Dave :- only cost £550 ish from memory
Wife :- HOW MUCH !!!!! At least those other 2 lenses only cost you a couple of hundred quid
Dave :- Actually it was ** much
Wife :-
Dave :-

She is now threatening to spend same amount on some bedroom furniture. Darn expensive this Photography lark

Congrats on the new toys mate, as reputations go you've got yourself 2 great pieces of glass...

Oh and then it's my birthday in July which means there's a macro lens with my name on it as a prezzie to myself. Cant wait.

Looking forward to seeing some shot with the new toys... don't worry, I wont tell P-E
