Black rapid rs-4 classic

I made a terrible mistake, i bought a black rapid strap, THINKING IT WOULD BE SUITABLE FOR ME, UNFORTUNATELY, AS I ONLY HAVE ONE ARM, THIS STRAP DOES NOT WORK FOR ME. I CANNOT TAKE THE LENS CAP OFF , OR CHANGE THE SETTINGS ON THE CAMERA, AS WITH THIS STRAP, I AM HAVING TO HOLD THE CAMERA WITH MY ONE HAND, WHEREAS, WITH A NECK STRAP, I AM NOT HAVING TO HOLD THE CAMERA WHILE I TAKE THE LENS CAP OFF AND CHANGE SETTINGS.

I HOPE THIS IS MAKING SENSE NOW, AS I AM STARTING TO CONFUSE MYSELF, THIS IS VERY DIFFICULT TO EXPLAIN

It is a very good product, well made, but i do think like many others, it is expensive.

I am now looking at optech straps, as people have said are more comfortable than the standard canon strap.

As there are a number of optech straps, could someone please recommend which one would be best for me.

I will be posting the black rapid in the for sale section later, i also bought a spare connector with it as well.

Re: Black rapid rs-4 classic

I've got two of this style of strap Woody and the camera is only supported by the strap at the bottom of its run by your hip. They are very good for distributing the weight of the camera away from your neck, but in your situation, not a lot of good.

Lowepro do a very wide strap that is really intended as a shoulder strap, but it might be one that you could consider:

I've deleted the other thread as requested.

Re: Black rapid rs-4 classic

Hi Woody, I have got a spare Optech strap now I have PXed my 2 X1Ds11 for a 1Ds111. Its a wide black neoprene one that is very comfortable round the neck, and takes the wieght of the camera well. I too am disabled (after an accident) and I needed it to support the heavy camera. If you want it You can have it, Just send me a big SAE with a stamp and it's yours. If you do want it, send me a PM and I will give you my address. Charles

Re: Black rapid rs-4 classic

GRAHAM, THIS IS VERY HARD FOR ME TO EXPLAIN. THE STRAPS, SUCH AS THE BLACK RAPID AND OTHERS, THAT HANG THE CAMERA AT YOUR SIDE, ARE OK IF YOU CAN USE BOTH HANDS, BUT WITH ME, ONCE I HAVE PICKED THE CAMERA UP FROM THE HANGING POSITION, I HAVE NOT GOT ANOTHER HAND TO TAKE THE LENS CAP OFF, OR CHANGE CAMERA SETTINGS IF I NEED TO.

WITH A STRAP THAT GOES AROUND MY NECK, THE CAMERA IS SUPPORTED IN A POSITION, WHICH I AM ABLE TO REMOVE THE LENS CAP AND CHANGE SETTINGS.

I realise that Woody, but the Lowepro, if used as a neck strap will be a lot wider than any neck strap that I've seen and is probably three times wider than the Optech - and it is padded to boot!. Just thought it was worth consideration as a neck strap.

Re: Black rapid rs-4 classic

THANK YOU GRAHAM, YOUR THOUGHTS AND IDEAS ARE ALWAYS MUCH APPRECIATED.
CHARLES, ( BLACKADDER ) HAS VERY KINDLY DONATED AN OPTECH STRAP TO ME, SO HOPEFULLY THIS SHOULD SOLVE MY PROBLEM.

MANY THANKS
