Bridge

I have seen this mentioned a couple of times...
What is a "Bridge" camera used for?...

I know they are the bit-between full DSLR and Instamatic type, but wondered what they have that is better than either/or?...

Google is your friend!

Bridge digital camera - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It's the all-in-one nature that's good - and more portable than a dSLR (as well as often being just as capable)

Re: Bridge

portability, you have a good range on most of them without having to cart round umpteen lenses. they offer the same controls as a DSLR so u are not losing anything there. price as well means most folk can afford one and not need to worry about contiunually buying lenses.
You wont get the same quality of shot as a DSLR with having a smaller sensor, and you dont get the same range when it comes to aperture size so this obviously has an impact on your photographs. but as a previous bridge user i will whole heartedly recommend them for what they are. a bridge between the world of point and shoots and the world of DSLR

Re: Bridge

I use a bridge camera for convenience (having all that I need - wide angle - telephoto - macro in one unit) and the fact that I can fit it in my handbag so I take it everywhere!!

Re: Bridge

Thanks for the info folks...
I went from SLR to DSLR, with a Fuji point-and-shoot F401 in-between for investigation into digital, so carrying about a bag with just camera equipment is second nature to me, but the Missus doesnt understand most of my Canon, so she keeps a Fuji... I say she keeps, its usually found in the side pocket of my bag 'cos she keeps loosing it....
