likely dust visible through the vf is on the mirror. it won't affect iq.
however you should do a proper bunny test. point at a uniform colour surface (blue sky, white paper etc), set small an aperture as your lens is capable and shoot. take the image into ps and do an auto-levels. that'll show up any bunnies on the sensor. If there are any, kick up a stink with Cameratiks. as for in camera sensor cleaning - those are far from perfect. they can't handle the sticky stuff i.e. pollen. |

Re: camera prob AGAIN!
yeah i know OP. but its better than none....... under normal circumstances i would do as you suggest with regard checking for dust bunnies.......... however i have no idea when i will get time to take it back into edinburgh ( i had the day off work yesterday and today and that meant two trips) and i obviously would have to do that straight away ....... lesson learnt tho I wont be going back there.

Either way, as part of work carried out to replace the shutter mech, I would have expected them to at least clean the sensor and probably also make sure the viewfinder was at least as clean as when it was sent to them.

Re: camera prob AGAIN!
Bloody hell Fi not having much luck are you. Nothing much I can add except to concur that the dust you're seeing is in the viewfinder section so don't worry about your images

Re: camera prob AGAIN!
I had some annoying dust marks when looking through the viewfinder. I tried to clean it myself but scratched the focus screen so sent it away to Canon who replaced & cleaned FOC.
When it came back there was still a small spec that annoyed me so I again thought I would try to blow it away but only made matters worse ......finished up contacting Lehmanns who said send it in to them (I was embarrassed to return to Canon). Cost me £207.00 this time.Came back with no dust in the viewfinder but.......all the focusing points were all out of line (not assembeled correctly). Sent it back to Lehmanns to be assembled correctly. Came back with the focus points all lined up correctly but......a small spec of dust when looking through the viewfinder. I decided it wasn't worth bothering with as it wasn't effecting my pictures. So Fi my advise is if it isn't showing in your pictures just leave it alone

Re: camera prob AGAIN!
Makes me wonder sometimes where professionalism in this day and age has gone.
When I was younger you did a job correctly and to the best of your skills, now it seems fling anything out no matter the quality. Sad

Re: camera prob AGAIN!
Thats great news Fi.
I agree with the others, they should have given the sensor and the rest of the camera a good clean, especially after the price you payed for the shutter. ![]() And cleaning the sensor is simple, get Alan to do it, if he makes a balls of it he gets you a 50D ![]() Make that a 70D or is it a 7D I have lost touch with this upgrade lark, so get a 5D mark 1111111111111111
