Camera Strap

Just a heads up really....

I was once told it was a good idea to tape my camera straps up around the plastic attachment that slide up and down on the strap......I never did but I'm always fearful of it working itself loose.

Well yesterday.........

I was covering the Aviva indoor World Trials and UK Championships and after all outfield photographers had been given the tour around the arena by our media supervisor there was a loud crash of something hitting the floor.....I turned round to see that one of the photographers camera straps had worked it's self loose leaving his D700 & lens on the floor

Luckily the lens hood was the only thing that looked to have received any series damage.

It might not luck pretty but I may now invest in some black tape.

Re: Camera Strap

Good tip there Ian

Alternatively, you can double the end over and sew it together. it will then be too big to fit through the buckle. If you don't want to adjust the strap any more you can sew the end to the other section of the strap.

If you can't sew, a safety pin would probably do the job.

Re: Camera Strap

I've had a strap work itself loose but camera didn't fall - seems to happen when there isn't strain on the camera (but the falling would happen after strain resumes! )

I've thought about using a couple of lengths of black twist wire but have never actually got around to doing it..........
Thanks for the reminder....... if I now remember to actually do it!

Re: Camera Strap

Was also another example of how useful a lens hood is.
