canon 100mm 2.8 USM macro?

Thinking of adding a macro to my bag to play with. Was thinking of the canon 100mm as it could double as a portrait lens on my 20D.

Who's got one?... What do we think?

Thanks
Dave

Yep, but useful for so much more than macro Only thing I haven't tried it for is motocross, probably a bit slow to focus

But seriously....

I bought busterboy's one and I've never looked back. Really happy with it as both a portrait and macro lens. I tend to use it whenever I take photos of static objects under 'controlled' conditions (ie on the floor, using my flashgun as a light source).

As the weather gets better, I intend to try more candid/street portraits with it.

I also have this lens.
I've yet to master macro photography in the way Dod has but the lens is superb.

Everyone has seen macro shots from it so here are a couple of portraits taken at F2.8

No DOF on that at all - well-focussed that one, spot on the nearest eye. Good lighting too. Spotty Dog mate - you'd be amazed how easy it is to foul stuff like that up. Some (very well-known) pros sometimes have difficulties with even simple stuff like this. Me included.
