Hi
Following from my query earlier this month, about the right upgrade lens for my 450d.
I take mostly landscape and travel pictures. I have been looking at several lens.
What are your opinions of the 17-85mm?

Re: Canon 17-85mm

i,ve use the 17/85 and find it a good lens overall ,it would be good for landscapes at 17 mm though a shorter length would benefit more. the barrel distortion is very poor at 17mm on shots of building and bridges ,etc, thinking about travel here..... but keep it at 20mm and your fine, it's very well constructed ,quite robust and light.....

Re: Canon 17-85mm

I've used one a fair bit and it'll turn in a good image. It's not that old a lens (about 3 years) and doesn't get used that much (I've now the slightly better 15-85) but already the extending barrel shows signs looseness of fit - unsurprising as it is of a relatively light construction
