Canon 50mm f1.4 lens

I HAVE A CANON FD 50MM F1.4 LENS, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF IT WOULD BE POSSIBLE TO CONVERT THIS LENS SO THAT I COULD USE IT ON MY CANON 7D.

AFTER SEEING THE PRICES OF A CANON 50MM I.4 LENS, I SUDDENLY THOUGHT ABOUT THE LENS I HAVE ON MY CANON A1, AND WONDERED IF I COULD USE THAT ONE, IF THERE IS ANYWAY TO CONVERT IT TO FIT.

ALL HELP AND ADVICE MUCH APPRECIOATED

THANK YOU

SRB-Griturn do adaptors, but I don't know if they cover your requirements. You might find out from their web-site, or give them a ring - they are very helpful.

Re: Canon 50mm f1.4 lens

You can get readymade FD to EF adapters - try eBay which is where I last saw one (but a while back now). IIRC, it involves an adapter incorporating a lens so you will lose some quality but this put the price up to about £30/40 (as opposed to M42 adapters which are around a tenner)

Re: Canon 50mm f1.4 lens

THANK YOU MARK. JUST HAD ANOTHER THOUGHT ABOUT THESE ADAPTORS, WILL I HAVE THE OPTION OF AUTO AND MANUAL FOCUS, OR WILL IT ONLY BE MANUAL FOCUS. IF IT WILL BE MANUAL FOCUS ONLY, THEN THIS OPTION WILL NOT WORK FOR ME, AS I CAN ONLY USE AUTO FOCUS.

IN WHICH CASE I WILL HAVE TO SAVE UP FOR A 50MM 1.4 LENS WITH AUTO FOCUS

Re: Canon 50mm f1.4 lens

I'm fairly sure that it'll be manual focus only

Re: Canon 50mm f1.4 lens

Woody. Just a thought. Your 50 mm lens with the crop sensor on the 7D makes the lens effectively 80 mm. If you want an effective 50 mm you need about a 30 mm focal length lens.
