I'm sure Mrs Dave will let you have one, although you might have to buy a new mini next time

Be interesting to see if they do. With such a big discrepancy between them, they may not - tho' with the Mk II pitched so high can see why you're going to wait. But if you do go for a MkII, I reckon it'll have to be the new still-at-concept-stage 4x4 Mini!

Re: Canon Announce the 5D mark II
Whilst I can understand the purests not wanting to see video in a stills camera, the fact is it is happening and it is here to stay. I never wanted a camera in my mobile phone but you'd be hard pushed to find one that can't take photos now.... and some do a half-decent job of it too!
So whilst I sort of agree with you John when you say you'd rather have a camera that does one thing very well rather than two things not so well, why is that the only two options? How about a camera that can still do stills very, very well but can also do a good job of video? As one who regularly carts my dSLRs to weddings alongside my Canon XM2 video camera (high-end that has L series lens on the front and produces superb video footage) I can assure you the opportunity to shoot a few minutes of HD footage with my stills camera AND continue shooting stills shots at the same time will be extremely valuable. If it means I can leave the XM2 for when I am doing straight videography, I'll be more than happy. It is really not possible to judge the photo quality by looking at shots online unless you have the full resolution photo and download it to your machine and then print it out. Seeing a 21mp shot compressed down to a size suitable for internet viewing is going to take away a lot of the sharp detail we would be looking for. We can get a general idea but not enough to judge harshly or otherwise. As it is, none of the links in Dave's post are actually working for me at the moment. Just keep getting pages with a red cross in the middle! Certainly going to be the most talked about camera for quite a while when it does finally hit the shelves. Going to be very interesting reading all the reviews. Cheers, Rob
