I'm sometimes asked about the benefits of being in the CPS (Canon Professional Services)

Well last month I was covering a University football final at Bramhall Lane, Sheffield and as usual arrived early.....signed in at the media desk etc.

I then made my way down to pitch side to set up......got one body set up with a 70-200mm lens on ok but when I came to set my 400mm 2.8 lens up the lens collar locked and wouldn't rotate round the lens which meant I couldn't use a monopod!

I spent most of the first half searching on Google to see if anyone else had this problem.....it sounded as though it was the bearings that had gone and I was fearing a repair bill of approx 500.00 for a complete new collar.

Next day I contacted CPS who said "no problem send it in"......I did and received a phone call, text and email letting me know it had arrived safely. 3 days later I got several further emails/text letting me know the repair had been completed and the lens was on the way back to me.

The lens arrived back safely with the repair bill just under 100.00.

So for me CPS priority sevice certainly worked

Re: Canon CPS

Fiona it's worth the hassle.

I got a factory refurb 1d3 from Focus in February, it had a humungous number of hot pixels on long exposures.

Sent Monday, back Thursday fully remapped and no more nasty hot pixels.

Slightly dissapointed that the sensor wasn't replaced as was the one in my 5d2 but now it does the job. Thankfully it was warrantied so I didn't have to pay.
