Re: canon ef 1.4 ii or iii

I have the II and was doing some research on the new releases happening now. I understood that the new III would have the IQ to match up with the new long prime lenses. I like mine and it works about as good as it gets on my longest lens,100-400mm IS L on my 1.6 crop camera's but seems to work better on my 1D mk4 which has a 1.3 crop sensor and it might only be the sensor that makes the difference. Sorry can't help more then that,,,

Re: canon ef 1.4 ii or iii

Consensus is that the Mk IIIs are way better than the Mk IIs. Not that the Mk IIs are bad - but the Kenko pro300 is a worthy match and much cheaper, to the extent that I ditched the Canon in favour of one (not just for equality of IQ reasons but Kenko fits far more of my lenses)

Re: canon ef 1.4 ii or iii

I bought the Mkii about 6 months ago to use with my 70-200 f2.8 L IS which is a Mki. I believe that the Mkii version of this lens is improved so perhaps the Mkiii extender is a better match for Mkii lens. I also thought that the additional cost of the Mark iii was a bit steep for something that I will only occassionally use. I can only observe that there was no obvious deterioration in performance using the Canon 1.4 extender but this is not very scientific.

Re: canon ef 1.4 ii or iii

Hi..I own a canon t2i and mostly use it with video, i am kind of new to lenses because i recently switched to dslrs, i understand the key difference between the to and that is the f stop but there is a giant difference in price and i just wanted to know, how much better is the 1.4, is it goo enough for an extra 200? Will my videos be dramatically different. is the build quality better what other advantages?
