Re: Canon EF70-300mm
If you mean the Canon EF 70-300 IS f/4-5.6, that's a very good lens, but the price should be around £350.
However, this is a telephoto-zoom, not a general purpose lens. If you'd like an all-in-one travel lens that covers from wide angle to telephoto, I'd suggest the Tamron 18-200 or 18-250. |

Re: Canon EF70-300mm
thanks silkstone , How about the Sigma 18-200 i already have
I thought I might have a lighter lens with a longer reach. sorry I really am hopeless at the lens thing, with primary, telephoto , telephoto zoom Fixed focus . Macro . the wild life in SriLanka is supposed to be fantastic so I thought the extra reach would be nice .

Re: Canon EF70-300mm
If you already have the Sigma 18-200, that should do just fine. The Canon 70-300 IS is much larger and heavier. It is great for telephoto shots but that's about it. For true wide angle on most DSLRs you need a focal length of around 18mm, and you can get lenses that go down to 10mm.
Have a good trip!
