Good heads up, but why is it these offers always seem to apply to the gear you've already bought and not the stuff you fancy?

Doesn't this apply to camera purchases only ie you buy a 30d you get the booklet?

Thats why I posted - Im not sure, skimming through the site it didnt specify (or at least I couldnt see it specify) that you had to purchase a body, also I recall last time round people trading and giving away vouchers they wouldnt be using.

This is why I posted to see if anyone can clarify this and how it works I would be grateful

As Steve said, timing I got my book of vouchers with my 20D last July, vouchers ran out 31.12.05. Bought a lens in February - 35 lost, thank you Canon. As far as I am aware you only get the vouchers when you purchase a Canon body as an enticement to buy more lenses and accessories.

regards

Thats what I dont get, cannot see any point where they actually ask for something to authenticate your purchase of a body. At the bottom of the FAQ is a form to fill out if you dont have the booklet and at no point does it request details of a camera.

Do you have to fill in details on the vouchers - I thought you just tore out the coupons and posted them along with the receipts of the items your claiming cashback for.

Looks the same as the last one - there was no body purchase proof then either.

Hope this makes things a bit more clear, I got the booklet with my 350d i got in Oct 05, I used the voucher for the 420ex (which on canons site said could also be used for a 430ex) I filled in the online form and printed it off, made a copy of my till receipt and a photocopy of the barcode off the 430ex box. Sent everything via recorded delivery to canon in Ireland. Just under a month later I got a chq for 35. I also did the same with the offer where if you had paid for your camera with a mastercard after Oct you could claim 100 back. I didn't even know about this until I came across on a website, So again filled in my details, this time they wired the money into my bank account.

So, if it looks like you can send off and get one of these booklets, then go for it, as all you send details of to canon is for the item you just purchased.

HTH Glen.

Canon regularly do these cash back schemes, sometime people report that the money tranfer or chq's are slow to arrive but it is money for nothing and what is the rush?

If there is something on the list that you may buy, I would recommend filling in the form and getting one of the books. If you use a voucher great, if not all that you have lost is a few minutes of your time

Glens explination of the claime procedure is spot on BTW, thanks for writing that out

I had to cut the original barcode from the box of my 70-200F4 for the claim - not send a photocopy. Think flashguns were the exception though. Don't think I sent anything for the 580EX claim apart from receipt and voucher. Could be wrong. Thrown the old book away now.

No I enquired as to that, Canon said photocopy was OK, I'm really sad and like to keep boxes (intact) for future selling/trading as I think it looks better if you still have the original box etc....
