Canon lp-e6 dual battery charger

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A CANON DUAL BATTERY CHARGER FOR GENUINE CANON LP-E6 BATTERIES ?

I HAVE SEEN PLENTY OF DUAL CHARGERS FOR COMPATIBLE BATTERIES BUT NONE FOR GENUINE CANON BATTERIES, I WILL NOT USE COMPATIBLE BATTERIES, BECAUSE OF FIRE RISK / EXPLODING, I KNOW THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT CANON BATTERIES WONT, BUT I THINK IT'S LESS LIKELY.

I HAVE SEEN ONE CHARGER, BUT NOT SURE ABOUT IT, ANYONE GOT ONE OF THESE ?

Delkin Dual Universal Charger with LP-E6 Plates and Battery (DD/DUC LPE6 COMBO-UK) - Wex Photographic

NOT SURE IF IT WILL CHARGE CANON BATTERIES, ALSO THERE ARE NO REVIEWS ON IT ON WEX WEBSITE

HELP AND ADVICE PLEASE

Re: Canon lp-e6 dual battery charger

Woody, I've used a Hähnel battery for just over 3 years now with no loss of energy or symptoms of errors - unlike the Nikon ones I've had for the D800, which have both given up during the guarantee period, with very little usage !! In the case of the Hähnel battery that I do have it has more power than than the Nikon original and behaves in every other respect (picture counts etc.) just like the Nikon battery.

Where I would be careful is with batteries that claim to be OEM products but aren't as already one level of deception has been applied.

All Li batteries are now treated with suspicion by the airlines, especially if posted as freight (e.g. DHL charge extra for carriage) because they are said to contain a gas chamber as part of the battery, which could explode.

Hähnel are regularly available and they make a dual charger, that I would trust. I believe it can also be used from the car battery. More information can be found here Hahnel Innovative Accessories.

I had one of those Hahnels with my 10d & 50d - Worked fine for me.

Came with the 10D second hand.

Re: Canon lp-e6 dual battery charger

Never heard any problem with any charger but then all the safety mechanisms are in the batteries - I've used very cheap and cheerful 3rd party and OEM chargers and can't say there's any difference

Battery-wise, my 3rd party batteries have lasted better than my OEM originals though I have heard of people having problems charging 3rd party batteries. But then they are really nasty items - totally unsurprised they're banned from being posted and slightly surprised it took so long before they were!

Re: Canon lp-e6 dual battery charger

I understand your reluctance to use 3rd party batteries. I once bought a 3rd party battery for a Canon and it only held half the charge and this was a reputable company. For my current camera I have two genuine Canon batteries; they cost more but performance is excellent. I only have a single charger. I try to keep a spare fully charged and when planning a photoshoot, I take out the battery in the camera and re-charge and put the fully charged spare in the camera. If it is some time from the last shoot, I do charge both batteries. Normally, I do not need more than a single battery in a day shoot but recently I have been using a Tablet connected to the camera and the camera is in Live view so the battery can drain in 3 hours.

Dave
