Bought a Canon SX10 IS

Well, decided to take another hit on Mastercard and bought the wife her new camera, 270 from Amazon.
She is now the proud and happy owner of the camera as in the title above. Up till now I've been really impressed with the camera, not had a chance to try it outside yet (work gets in the way) but indoors and set to auto mode which suits her the difference between her old camera Sony DSC W90 ant the new one is like night and day.
All her photos are nice and sharp and she is more confident with it now, perhaps the IS helps, the Sony has IS on it too but I think something has went doolally on it or it's just a crap camera

THe 20X zoom lens equivalent to a 28-560mm zoom on a full frame 35mm camera is quite impressive too, very little loss of IQ at max zoom, although you do have to give it a second at max zoom to focus on the subject. Lots of other useful gizmos on it too, manual settings if you want, AV TV M C (Custom setting) plus the usual preset modes.

Pop up Flash was not too bad , there you can have low, medium or high power settings or you can just leave it on auto. Nice touch is I can use my speedlight 430 EX on it too.

Nice size lcd screen which pulls out and can vari angle swivel etc, Electronic viewfinder, not sure about that yet in low light.

Video mode is good too, you can use the zoom while recording.

Only downside at the moment is the manual, it's pretty much a basic get you started quickly thing, my wife would rather read it from a booklet than view it on the computer, there is a cd with a more detailed manual supplied too, I might have to print off the whole 297 pages for her to read. .

Yes this realy annoys me too. After spending 270 quid why does Canon penny pinch on a basic get you up & running manual and expect us to down load from the CD the full manual. We all like a nice pocket sized full manual which most Nikon cameras are provided with.!! That can also be read in the lounge and taken out in the pocket.
