Cobra D400 Flash

Can anyone let me know where I can download instructions for the Cobra D400 flash?
Or does anyone have a copy that they could e-mail me or post so that I can download it.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Just tried it on my 300D (rebel) (it came with an old EOS 600). It works (sort of). It works as a regular flash on the M setting. But the flash is too low on the other 2 settings (blue & red) changiing the f setting makes no difference so the camera might not be talking to it properly. I haven't tried it yet but it may be a good way of triggering off a slave though.

I did however get an Error 99 on my camera, I think this was caused by the flash not being ready - it's slow to build it's power back up.

Re: Cobra D400 Flash

I doubt it wild thing. Err99 is usually because of a mismatch, you wouldn't get that just because it hasn't fully recharged for the next flash.

This flash is not designed to communicate specifically with the Canon 300D and thus error 99's occur. This also happens with some older Sigma lenses on Canon DSLRs. They can usually be rechipped to make them compatible but I doubt it would ever be worth doing that to a flashgun as this was never designed to be used with this type of camera.

Using it manually would work though you might need to experiment to get the right settings each time.

Cheers,
Rob

Re: Cobra D400 Flash

Update: I've used it on the blue & red settings to trigger an external flash unit & it worked a treat.

The Error 99 only appears when you try to open the shutter before the flash has charged (as Rob says, it doesn't communicate properly). So tip: wait till charged
