CompactFlash Card for Canon 40d
I need some help here - CompactFlash Card for Canon 40D. In Canon specification it's written ComactFlash Type I/II and i'm wondering if I could buy SanDisk Extreme® IV CompactFlash or SanDisk Extreme® III CompactFlash - are they compatible?

Re: CompactFlash Card for Canon 40d
Yep, either will be fine. Unless you do a lot of continuous shooting at high burst rate, the Extreme IV probably won't be much advantage over Extreme III.
Don't buy Sandisk cards from eBay - most of them are fakes! Buy from a reputable dealer. ![]() Just for clarification, Type I CF cards are the standard sort - 3.3mm thick. Type II cards are 5mm thick and are usually 'microdrives' - miniature hard drives. These were very popular when high capacity solid state CF cards were expensive, but have faded from the scene since prices dropped. |

Re: CompactFlash Card for Canon 40d
Don't forget the larger file sizes will reduce the number if pics you will get on a card, so you will need to get larger capacity cards.
As an example, my Nikon D70s gives 178 RAW images on a 1gig card, but my D300 gives 197 RAWs on a FOUR gig card. |

Re: CompactFlash Card for Canon 40d
I've been using these from 7dayshop.com
7dayshop.com - Online Store I have never had any problems, but then again I don't need fast cards as I've not got into sport shooting yet. Over 4,000 shots and never lost one yet, so if you just wanted cheap and chearfull for everyday use then no need to pay for Sandisk extreme's ![]() |

Re: CompactFlash Card for Canon 40d
I use Sandisk Ext III 2GB CF cards. Main reason for using these is the read/write times both to camera and PC. I did use a Kingston Elite Pro and found it dead slow, so I stick with Sandisk Ext now.
