I want to set-up the shooting and settings banks on my D300 but I can't work out how to copy settings between banks.

Ideally I want to take the settings on the camera which is currently set for daylight handheld shooting, and save to Banks A (shooting and setting). Then adjust a couple of settings (like auto-ISO) for low-light handheld shooting and save to Banks B, and then adjust a couple more settings (like Live View) for tripod shooting and save to Banks C, and then finally adjust the settings for long lens/high-speed shooting and save to Banks D.

Any ideas how to do this?

Any help much appreciated.

Bad news is you can't. When you switch banks then the settings change and you need to be in the bank to change it's settings. You only need to do it once though. You could switch the my menu to recent items whilst you do it though so that at least the parameters you changed are all in one place so you can do it more quickly.

Boooo...that's terrible. There's so many settings that I've adjusted I don't really know which I'd need to change if I had to start from scratch on every bank. Is there no way of exporting settings to the memory card and then importing them back to a different bank?

Not that I know of, it may be possible if you understood the file format.

Hi Andysmee,I came across this from a full in-depth study of the philosophy that goes on in Canon's & Nikons development over the years.

All is not perfect in Nikonland. If you want to set up a memory bank you have to change every single setting, not just the ones that needs changing. This is tedious without a "Copy Settings" function. Also, any changes made while shooting in a given bank are made to that bank, whether you want them to be permanent or not. This whole function is worthwhile, but basically flawed, and needs to be rethought.

It goes back to another thread that I said there,why don't these manufactures let the cameras loose on "Real People" before going into production? I know why, they want us to buy the next "better"? version next year at a higher price.

Still it keeps my hobby going trying to find "The Holy Grail" in the kit
