Crumpler bags...

just after a bit of advice on this one really. been looking around for an over-shoulder bag but can't make up my mind. took a look at crumplers as they're meant to be good (everyone who has on says so!) but there's something odd going on that I can't quite work out.
sizes are listed as follows:

Quote:
# BENS PIZZA - EXTRA LARGE
Internal dimensions: 25.5x18x13 (wxhxd)
# BENS PIZZA - XX LARGE
Internal dimensions: 29.5x14x22 (wxhxd)
# BENS PIZZA - XXX LARGE
Internal dimensions: 32x17x26 (wxhxd)
so then the 'larger' bags above the XL are infact wider yet shorter/not as high?
could the numbers have got the wrong way around do you think? and should be:

Internal dimensions: 25.5x18x13 (wxhxd)
# BENS PIZZA - XX LARGE
Internal dimensions: 29.5x22x14 (wxhxd)
# BENS PIZZA - XXX LARGE
Internal dimensions: 32x26x17 (wxhxd)
?

I have a Bens pizza extra large. I just measured it and the 25.5 is a bit optimistic maybe more like 23 but the 18 seems more like 20. Anyway, It holds the kit lens and the 20D with my Tamron 28-75 fitted together with a few small accessories..lens pen, Remote switch, a few filters. The front pocket holds spare batteries and cards.
I found it a great walkaround bag - very quick to flip open and lift the camera out. It is still the bag i use most. To the untrained eye it does not look too much like a camera bag either.

The fact that I now have a flashgun means the bag is no longer ideal as there is nowhere to put it. You cannot store a tall item in the bag with the camera.

As to sizes - I just took what I needed the bag to hold into a camera store and tried the bags they had. As my measurements show, working to sizes is still part guesswork.

cheers, I'm just wondering how much I can squeeze into a bag - or rather - which bag I can squeeze my camera into...the 1dmkII's slight drawback is its un-compactness. not a complaint just need to find the right way to accommodate it's size effectively

I've got the lowepro mini trekker which is actually bigger than I need (at the moment!) but the charm of it for me was that it's so easy and comfortable to carry. When we are away we do a lot of walking so a backpack style suits me well - I usually have the camera slung over my shoulder anyway. When I'm at speedway I need a bag which is resilient enough to withstand being dropped on the ground or bashed into things, and whilst expensive the mini-trekker seemed to fit the bill nicely.
