D50 With a Life of its Own!

My Nikon D50 has, for the 2nd time, increased the ISO setting, even tho' I have set Auto Control to OFF

I found my last two shoots over the past few days full of noise I was just examining the exif data to look over the shooting settings for exposure to see why this has happened, when to my horror I saw "ISO 1600" I always keep it at ISO 200, so how has this been changed without my knowledge No, no-one else dares to touch my camera I checked the camera, and sure enough it is set to ISO 1600! But ISO Control is still set to OFF

A real mystery. An extremely annoying real mystery which has ruined two complete shoots

Can the only explanation be that I have changed it my mistake (or in my sleep) (or something), or is my D50 alive

Re: D50 With a Life of its Own!

Do you view the pics on the lcd and zoom in on them?

This happens to me when I think I've pressed the zoom button (magnifying glass) then pressing the iso button and spinning the whadayamacallit.

It is a pretty silly layout and I've not found any way round it. They could fix it with a firmware update but I can't see it happening tbh.

Re: D50 With a Life of its Own!

Haven't had the ISO boost on me but I could see how it could, via orangepeel's description..

Lately I've been particularly frustrated by mine coming back with exposures that are way off and odd color casts. Way too much tweaking needed in my raw processing app - but I'm not quite ready to blame anyone but myself for that one.

Cheers OP Yes, I believe that's the answer I do zoom in on the lcd quite a lot, to check for pic's that aren't sharp, to save downloading dud's onto pc.

Phew! At least I know that (a) I'm not going nuts, + (b) my camera isn't being controlled by some unknown force

Have you ever considered that orangepeel *is* your D50? Look at him, trying to trick you, and then secretly rushing off to change his ISO setting? Hmm....
