Does anyone know

why exactly I shouldnt buy a d2h (much more in my current price range). My boss tells me I should wait and get the d2hs when I have the money. Ive gotten to use a d2hs, and its AWESOME. Ive seen the noise comparisions, and to me, they dont seem that huge. Please, anyone who knows, explain/convince me why I shouldnt buy a D2h.

Re: Does anyone know

The D2Hs incorporates Nikon's second generation matrix metering which results in more accurate exposures as opposed to the D2H which routinely underexposed in certain situations.

The buffer/readout on the D2Hs was also improved, as was the LCD screen.

Lastly - and this might be the killer issue: the D2Hs has recently had it's firmware revised to version 2.0, adding many of the features of the D2Xs. Since the D2H is officially discontinued, it hasn't had a firmware update.

Of course, the real deciding factor is the price differential - being that a brand new D2Hs retails around £2K, and the few places that still stock the D2H seem to be selling it for £1.7K - though you may have found a different deal which is better

Re: Does anyone know

Not sure about the rest of the spec, but I'm sure the D2H is 'only' around 4/5 megapixels. I guess this would not be a problem unless you want to enlarge prints above A3, and the file sizes will be smaller.

My D70s has 6 megapixels, and, of course the latest generations have 10+. The D200 is supposed to share some technology with the D2X and is around a third of the price. Also the D2Xs is now here, so maybe the D2X will start to come down in price soon, maybe a better bet than the D2H?

It might be worth looking at the differences between the D2H and the the latest generation of Nikons in terms of the metering/sensor/precessor etc.

Re: Does anyone know

I have owned both the D2H & the D2Hs and would go for the s over the D2H without question.

D2H is a great camera but the s has just got some nice enhancements that make it even better imo.
