Fast Standard Zoom - Help needed!

Hello

I've been researching into a fast standard zoom in the 24/28 - 70mm range for my Pentax K100D Super.

I'd narrowed it down to the Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG, 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG MACRO and the Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 SP XR Di LD-IF AF.

Then I saw details of the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro. This gives me more at the wide end and is about £70 less than the others. But will I notice the difference in aperture between f2.8 and f4.5?

I want the wide aperture for minimum depth of field in macro shots of flowers, etc. and in photos of my grandchildren. Also, it will help in keeping the shutter speed up as I photograph them playing indoors.

Will the smaller aperture at the tele end make that much difference, or would I be better paying a bit more and going for the fixed f2.8 aperture.

All advice welcome!

Thanks, Steve

You might in pics of the kids but you won't (nor should you need it) in macros (which tend to need greater DOF given the very narrow DOFs at macro end)
