Filters
I have been looking at buying a filter for my new Canon EOS 400D, I'm new to this lark so don't have a clue about what's good or not, Looking at places like warehouse express etc, they are wanting anything from £30-£90 or so, but a quick look on ebay and they are going for around a fiver? Am I looking at the wrong things or is it a bargain?

Re: Filters
Any particular kind of filter? Do you mean a UV one for protection or do you want to achieve a creative effect?

Re: Filters
I was looking at polarising filters specifically, but any in general, what would you suggest for a beginner to buy?

Re: Filters
I use SRB in Luton. They do filters and a whole lot more. They are very helpful on the phone, but I live close enough to visit them.
I've got a Kood circular poloriser 77mm cost about £40 as I remember. They have a very detailed catalogue and good prices. They also sell Hoya filters. |

Re: Filters
If you check out their web site/catalogue it is packed with hints and tips - what to use and when etc.

Re: Filters
Kood's a good place to start with filters
7dayshop do an inexpensive kood filter holder and square filters, including a polariser if you want to go down that route. |

Re: Filters
I have just ordered a Hoya R72 x 58mm filter from Camera Filters The Filter Connection 2filter.com for Hoya Digital filters, Hoya Pro 1, Tiffen 4x4 Camera Filters, B+W filters and Canon Inks.
This from America, it works out at £18.00 including postage. This is a lot cheaper than anyone else. It has not arrived yet, only ordered it last night; worth taking a look if you want filters...Kenny |

Re: Filters
Stear well clear of the £5 cheapo,s though on e-bay, the glass is #rap and you get #rap results , the pro series is dear ,but is multi-coated to stop flare and ghosting.
You don,t allways get what you pay for in this world, but with cheap filters you usually do I have a Kood polerizer to like Dabhand 16 and they are ok.
