Fuji S5000

Hi Guys
Apart from the Canon EOS10D I have just purchased, I have a Fuji S5000 I bought new, which I have had now for about 5 years, in 2008, I lost ever thing on the screen, spoke to Fuji, and then sent the camara back to them for repair, it appeared a chip had gone in the camara, at out MG car club dinner, this Cristmas, again I had a problem with it, in that it switched off after being turned on, again sent back to Fuji,
again it appears the same chip has gone, do you think they are using crap componants or what anybody got any ideas whats going on, between repairs I have maybe taken 300-400 pictures.

Re: Fuji S5000

Is it going to cost you any money to have the chip replaced? If so I would consider replacing the camera - it's quite old technology now and you will probably pick one up on Ebay for....£50 max. The fact that the same chip has gone could be sheer coincidence or some other fault in the camera is killing the chip. I have always had a Fuji bridge camera and I have high regard for their QC. Just put it down to hard luck.

Re: Fuji S5000

Agree with Stepheno. Unless you are getting the repairs done free I'd scrap the camera and get a more modern one. The technology has moved on so much you will get a better camera often at a cheaper price.

I paid £399 for my 3MP Nikon Coolpix 885 compact that was my first digital camera in 2002 and now you can get a similar camera that will blow it out of the water for about £70.
