Just saw the new pics of the EOS 5D mk2. Soo? Is it all that serious to get the latest models to be a better photographer? How many of you buy the latest model of the camera just because it is there? I remember the good old days with Canon F-1, solid metal, simple and working. You didn't need the latest gadgets to take a pic. F-1 worked from Alaska to the Sahara desert. So great body!

Re: Getting Better
I would not buy the latest model camera even if I had no budget limit. It would be far better to get used to one Camera and learn how to use it so you can stop thinking about the camera and get on to photography. Of course if a new Camera has some specific new feature you need, then fine, but there is little point changing just for the sake of it. My current Camera is 3 years old and I have no plans to replace it yet though a 5D Mk II would be attractive. I had my previous Camera for 15 years and I tend to keep cars for 10 years.
