Hama Circular Polarisers - any good?
Hi all,
I'm still trying to track down a 67mm circular polariser before I go on my jollies in a weeks time. The Hama ones from 7dayshop seem a good price, but are they likely to actually work?: http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/prod...oducts_id=5973 I know its no Hoya Super HMC thingy - anyone got one though? Cheers, Matt |

Re: Hama Circular Polarisers - any good?
Hi feenster, I've never used Hama myself, always bought Hoya, the Hama will work but to what extent I don't know. I do believe that where glass is concerned one should buy the best quality you can. I can't see the point of putting a cheap filter in front of a top of the range lens.

Re: Hama Circular Polarisers - any good?
Stepheno, I quite agree. It's more a case of that I have splashed a fair bit of cash on camera gear in the last couple of days, so didn't want to go overboard.
However, as you say I might as well get a decent one. There are some Hoya ones from Japan on eBay for £20 - nothing in the UK for around that money it seems. Matt |

. If you do get a Hoya make sure it is the blue label. It is superior quality to the green lable.

Re: Hama Circular Polarisers - any good?
I have three Hama polarisers, and they seem to be fine. The quality is good and the rotation very smooth indeed. They have a little handle which you can remove if you want to use a lenshood.
The standard Hoya polarisers aren't multicoated, and you pay a fortune for ones that are. So far I've not noticed any flare problems with the Hama ones, and I don't think you can go wrong for the price.

Well, i've just ordered a Hoya from OneStop Digital for £21 delivered. Hopefully it will be here before I head off on my jollies!

Re: Hama Circular Polarisers - any good?
I am a little late to the thread but my experiance with the hama polerisers is that quality wise they are ok (Hoya and the more expensive ones are obviously better but that is reflected in the price) but the main problem with the Hama ones are that they block a great deal of light...usually around 3 stops. If you can live with that, they are usually good value for money.
