help with lense choice?

Hi,

Ive been looking at getting a new lense and not sure which will be best suited to me and the camera. I mainly take the camera with me walking for taking snaps of wildlife and the views, including macro shots. They are for the Pentax K200D.

The two lenses that im looking at are:
  • Pentax 50-200mm f/4-5.6 DA ED Lens
  • Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro (Pentax AF)

Any help will be much appriciated.

Thanks again, Thomas

Re: help with lense choice?

As you already have an 18-55, I'd go for the Sigma - but make sure you get the APO version.

Re: help with lense choice?

I'd recommend the Sigma (but go for the APO version) as particularly good value

Edit: snap!

Yes I'd go for the sigma as well. I've got a nikkor 70-300 and the maximum zoom is very nice when you take photo's of wildlife.

The Sigma 100-300F4 is a far better lens if they the make it in Pentax mount

The non APO Sigma lenses are not generally well thought of to my knowledge.

One-Stop digital are quoting £133 for the Sigma 70-300 APO. That sounds like a bargain to me.
